6 Reasons To Quit Sugar Today
We all know that sugar is bad for us, but do you realize just how bad it is? Here are 6 reasons to give up sugar for good, and to set a great example for your kids.
When we were young, we didn’t have as much information and science readily available about foods, but today we do so let’s give our children all the advantages that we didn’t have when it comes to health.
1. It’s Dangerously Addictive
The more sugar you eat, the more you’ll want – what a vicious cycle to get into. The human brain reacts similarly to craving sugar as it does when it craves cocaine, so kick the sugar addiction! While you may crave it the more you eat it, the opposite is true as well. Once you start eating less sugar, you will find yourself craving it less and less.
2. It Makes You Gain Weight
To be blunt, eating sugar makes you fat. It’s no surprise that sweets are bad for you, but it helps to hear it in black and white: SUGAR MAKES YOU FAT and you don’t need it as part of your diet at all.
3. Fix Your Sweet Tooth With Fruits
Fruits are more delicious than fattening sugary deserts. Fruits do indeed still contain sugar, but it’s a better kind of sugar and you’re also getting antioxidants and vitamins. So, the next time you have a craving for sugar driving you crazy, grab a banana or an apple or a cup of berries, much healthier and more flavorful, too!
4. Have A Heart
Your heart will thank you the moment you give up on sugar. It’s tough for your heart and it throws everything off balance. The next time you find yourself reaching for junk food, stop for a moment and think of your poor ticker.
5. Kidney Stones
Eating sugary foods and drinking sweet beverages can greatly increase your chances of getting a kidney stone. Stick to water when you’re thirsty, and get your calories from food instead of from drinks and you’ll be much better off. The idea of getting a kidney is terrifying because they’re so painful. Trust, you want to do everything you can to avoid them.
6. Keep Your Teeth Looking Nice
Even if you don’t have the nicest teeth in the world, a high-in-sugar diet is only going to harm your teeth. Sugar is so, so, so bad for your teeth.
